A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in the Olympia, Washington area partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local U.S. veterans organization. Along with a donation, the Fairway branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
Fairway and AWI honored U.S. Army veteran Donald “Bill” Moore with a service dog from Brigadoon Service Dogs. Bill joined the army in 1987 as an infantryman and was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He was awarded an Army Service Medal, Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. After his time in the armed forces, Bill returned home to Washington, where he and his wife now reside. When asked to name the activities he enjoys, Bill said: “I love the quiet home life with my wife. And camping.”
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
